About

“Growing Nurse Debi” came to be as a result of some of the most difficult days of my life. I am a long-time Master Gardener who was clumsily transitioning into life as a newly-licensed Registered Nurse. At the same time that I started working, I was also rudely introduced to the ugliness of Lupus as it snuck up on me from out of nowhere.

Needless to say, there were countless changes coming at me at once … my life became a tangled, exhausting mess of juggling this massive new normal of mine from OPPOSITE ends of the stethoscope. Not easy to do.

Somehow … for some perfect reason … God chose ME to not only live out this beautifully complicated story, but to also share it, as well. These lessons are not easy to write about – some of my days can be very, very dark – but there’s always such sweet grace waiting when Jesus meets me there in those hard places. What an incredible honor to be able to use it all to encourage and point others to his precious hope.

This site is set up where you can read the posts by categories if you’d like – just find the options of “Nursing”, “Lupus Life”, and “Walking with Jesus” under the site name on the homepage. Also, enjoy the random pictures I take during my morning meanderings. Just know that my heart was touched somehow by what I saw – my joy is to share these images with you.

This ministry may be named after me, but please know that it’s all God’s. All I do is write what He speaks to my heart.

And it’s you, as well. It’s no accident that you’re reading these words right now. God has brought us together for a very distinct purpose. So, thank you for reading, thank you for sharing, and thank you for your prayers for the strength and boldness to keep on writing the truth – as He continues to teach it to me.

And thanks so much for growing with me. ❤
