I saw a phrase this morning that basically said “Show the world your sunshine, but give the rest to Jesus”.
At first glance I liked this phrase because I know how wearing our smile can truly lift others up.
But then two things started bothering me. First and foremost, I didn’t like the thought of giving “the rest to Jesus”. I want to offer him both my joy and my tears. FIRST. Not as leftovers.
And secondly, I remembered this day a few years ago … and that lady at Target … and how it never would’ve even happened if I’d been wearing my plastic smile that day. And what a terrible shame that would’ve been.
