When you still feel his fuzz tickle your cheek.

img_4407-e1568475029537.jpgSweet Baby James, you were just three days old when your Mimi first pulled you into her arms, taking in that long, slow, deep inhale of your unbelievable sweetness. This amazing scent is uniquely your own, you know – matchless to none other on this earth.

You probably had no idea that Mimi was absolutely melting inside as she held you that first time. Melting into a giant puddle of oozy, gooey Mimi love. The kind of love she holds inside just for you. The kind of love that will be there for you forever, no matter what, ready to wrap around you whenever you may need a little extra dose.

Remember that, sweetie – you may really need it one day. That love is right here.

The fuzz of your sweet little head tickled Mimi’s cheek as you looked around at your brand new world that day – such a sweet feeling that my cheek will never forget. I can still feel it right now, actually.

You were so alert, holding your head up high – acutely aware of everything. Especially of how hungry you were starting to get. Time to hand you back to your sweet Mama, I suppose.

I’m wondering … do you know just how hard we’ve prayed for you? How thankful we are that you’re actually here on this earth with us? How much you’ve already taught us about waiting and faith and never losing hope?

Did you know that God taught us all this through you?

That through your birth, God reminded us of his sovereignty?

Of his ever-perfect timing?

His patience with our worries?

His forgiveness at our fears?

Did you know how hard we’re going to keep praying for you? That your heart will thirst for scripture? That it will hold onto every precious word?

That its holy power will ignite in you a craving for repentance, and your need for salvation?

And that you’ll get to know God through this?

Not just about God as this world claims to know him, but to know who he really is?

That this knowledge will grow you into a man of strong faith?

One who will lead with both power and humility?

With the knowledge that there’s always more to learn?

And that this is okay?

That you will view this broken world through the eyes of Jesus? That you’ll learn to love with empathy? Compassion? And hope?

That you’ll think incredibly deep thoughts and have long, unforgettable conversations with your Mommy and Daddy one day? Or your friends? Or your future wife?

Or maybe even with your Mimi?

That you won’t be afraid to share who you are?

And you’ll crave to know others the same?

That you’ll want to help them?

That you’ll want to help yourself?

Do you know how much joy you’ve brought into this world just by showing up?

That your presence in our hearts and lives has changed absolutely everything?

That we can’t wait to get to know you?

To watch the beautiful lifelong metamorphosis of you growing into truly becoming yourself?

Do you know that whoever you become that you’re going to be important?

That every breath you breathe holds great purpose?

And that God already knows what that purpose will be?

Do you know that He already knows everything there is to know about you?

That he knit together every single molecule that makes up James Andrew with great and perfect intention?

Because who and how you are is exactly how he meant for you to be?

And that even when it seems like no one else understands you, our God always does?

And he always will?

No matter how absolutely weird we can get?

We’re never too much for him.

Do you know that God planned all your days for you before you were even formed?

And that he’s going to be right there helping you walk through every single one of them?

The good days and the ones that won’t feel so good?

Do you understand that you won’t be alone through any of it?

That you will never, ever, EVER be alone?

Do you know that this is Mimi’s greatest prayer for you?

That you will walk through life completely trusting all this?

That you are loved, understood, and never, ever, ever alone. No matter what.

Praising God for you, my Sweet Baby James. Your Mimi loves you.

Thanks for growing with me. ❤

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them ever came to be.” (Psalm 139:13-16)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
