Meet Don Kemp. He came into my life when I was 9 years old and totally rocked my world. We blended two families, moved across country a few times, and went through life together.
He was a preacher.
He loved Jesus.
He was a regular yell-at-the-TV, football-watching, snack-craving guy.
He loved Jesus.
He always had a joke to tell.
He loved Jesus.
He was looked up to by many.
He loved Jesus.
He was imperfect and could be difficult.
He loved Jesus.
We connected and he became “Dad” to me very quickly.
He showed me Jesus.
He greeted my teenage stupidity with the open arms of forgiveness.
He showed me Jesus.
He always loved me absolutely just as I was.
He showed me Jesus.
Dad died 11 years ago today.
My mom, brother, and I were with him for his final breath.
What an indescribable honor.
What a devastating moment.
What a stunning moment.
After a lifetime of proclaiming Him to others …
Dad was finally gazing straight into the loving eyes of Jesus.
Praise be.
Thanks for growing with me. ❤
His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant … come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:23)
